There are two ways to receive pitches from Contently freelancers:
Configure your publication to accept pitches at any time.
Create pitch requests, which are structured, time-limited calls for ideas.
With either choice, if you find that you are not receiving the volume of pitches you had hoped for, there are four ways to get more:
Add more or different freelancers to your publication and remove inactive ones. If you need more freelancers or freelancers with certain expertise, submit a talent request. As you add freelancers to your team, it's a good practice to remove the inactive ones (those who don't submit pitches, respond to pitch requests, or accept assignments) so that you can keep your team lean, organized, and engaged.
Reach out to active writers and ask them to submit more pitches. You can utilize the messaging function on the Contently platform to reach out to freelancers en masse or individually. Contacting the freelancers whose ideas you'd like to see more of and communicating your needs directly may incentivize them to pitch.
Revise the pitch request or pitch guidelines to better explain the volume of pitches you're looking for. Learn how to optimize pitch requests.
If it's a niche or speciality pitch request that requires a lot of upfront research, consider paying freelancers to submit ideas. Consult with your managing editor to set the right fees.
