How long do I have to leave feedback once a contributor submits?

Modified on Sun, 27 Nov, 2022 at 6:58 PM

Contently recommends reviewing content within five business days of the date of submission, but there is no hard and fast rule. Generally speaking, it's better to review content sooner rather than than later. The reason: If a piece of content sits for too long, the contributor may move on to other projects and may not be able to fulfill quick-turnaround revision requests when you finally get around to reviewing.

Best practices

  • Communicate your schedule for reviews upfront. This way, contributors know when to expect feedback and can set aside time for revisions.

  • Build reviews into the workflow. Incorporate review deadlines into the Contently workflow for visibility and project-management purposes. If you have a managing editor, they can translate your review process into a Contently workflow.
